The recent Umno assembly has seen the rearing of many ugly heads. It is no wonder why Newsweek magazine labeled Umno as 'a seething snake pit'.
There was a glorious display of damning, hissing, swearing, and unsheathing of the keris against imaginary enemies.
The fact that Badawi his people have taken upon themselves to demonstrate such extremism, reflects not only gross immaturity, but hatred for all non-malays.
These Umno-malays have shown their true colours. Non-malays have always suspected this and the recent theatrics have confirmed it. There is no room for love from any non-malay.
A poor bumi will always be a poor bumi. Unlikely to be in the company of the Umno-malays who have grabbed all the wealth from you. See for yourself when they pass by in their voluptuous Mercedes.
Strong words have been spoken at the Umno meet which are difficult to obliterate. All that is ugly in Umno has been exhibited with no holds barred - bias, bigotry, discrimination and hatred.
The BN-led government has been providing crutches to so many crippling GLCs for the past 20 odd years: Renong, Proton, PLUS, Perwaja (which is total failure), MAS……….and perhaps many more (I do not have so many inside scoops), what next?
So do we need these GLCs for Malaysia economy? Yes and no.
-Yes, because if we want to stay afloat and let everyone has access to quality of life, then get those GLCs running, get the projects going, so employment can be managed and probably social problems such as poverties, drugs, crimes, can be contained. BN will wins election in election out, as long the people are happy.
That perhaps you would like to say, is the "sorry state" of our Malaysian voters. That is why BN wins election in election out.
-No, because if this situation continues where we sit safely in our comfort zone, we will eventually lose out in many aspects, to many at-present-not-yet as developed as Malaysia countries.
The people must unite and sit out these short economic pains, if really those GLCs is in irrevocably bad shape and need to be close down. As in a Chinese saying, "Short term pain is better than long term pain."
I would add lastly that the "sins" of the ruling government are aplenty: transparency and accountability (the lack of them), lack of political will (this administration) or too much of it (the last administration), corruption and blatant cronyism.
Proton, MAS and most of our GLCs are all the same: totally no accountability, seriously lacking focus, plenty of abuses of power, most of its executives and bosess absolutely have no competence in running a company, greedy, doing things beyond their means, badly corrupted, etc.
I am extremely sad the tax money I paid to government every month is being spent in such manners. Why should we pay the taxes at all if our money is not put into good use? Where is the justice?
If Malaysians can be 50% as smart and clean as how the Singaporeans run their country, Malaysia will be a heaven for its people!
The only reason Proton or other GLCs with huge losses could carry on business is because of the financial support from the government.
Taxpayers monies are wasted on one bad investment after another. The government is totally irresponsible by scarifying interest of future generations. Someone has to pay the debts, if not this generation, it will be the next.
Badawi should resign immediately. I will never vote for a party that promotes hate amongst the people.

In history book clearly says that the Kesultanan Melayu started in Malacca when a Hindu prince named Parameswara run away from Majapahit (Indonesia) due to power struggle with his brother. He then converted to Islam by Arab merchants and is called Sultan Muzaffar Shah.
So tell me where does it justify that Malaysia belongs to malays only? We are all Malaysians! Chinese, Iban, Indian, Kadazan, Malay, or any other races. This is our country.

The subservient mentality of our youths (voters) has served our Malaysia government very well. It is irony that former PM Mahathir is crying foul now for not being able to voice his concerns for the country in the government-controlled media.
When he was in charge, dissenting views were not tolerated. The current PM is the product of that era and not surprising he has asked citizens not to question the government!
Whether by design or luck our Malaysia education system helps to produce subservient citizens unable to think critically and with "devious" religious teaching the control of citizens mind is complete.
The reform of Malaysia education system can never succeed so long as corrupt government is in power. The bottom line for most of Malaysia problem is lack of good governance.
Obviously the best solution is to get our government reform first, then, with righteous politicians we can hope a change for the better.

In fact I am amused how often the "blame game" is used, be it racial or religion issues but in this case, youth generation for the first time.
After half a century of independence, we always have one party in power. It is not today's youth forefathers that shaped the education system but the politicians. You could argue that the politicians were elected democratically by the forefathers and hence they are equally to be blamed. That much I can agree if only corruption is discounted.
The older generation is less educated then today's youth and generally less educated than the ruling elite of their time. Education would have created a critical mass of thinking citizens to challenge the government of their action in nation-building.
Having a corrupt government, education is a powerful tool to manipulate the next generation of youth into subservient voters. My message is simple, "reform our corrupt government to have a better chance of reforming other policies (be it economy, education and judiciary etc) successfully".
The foundation of nation-building lies in good governance. A corrupt government can never be successful in nation-building.
We have never experienced any racial discrimination in any form whatsoever the many years I have been in Canada. A Vietnamese sushi chef here I know was once a refugee at Pulau Betong. He like many others, I know has prospered and his children have all gone through university.
Malaysia loss of talents to other countries is the result of the pervasive special rights now entrenched in the constitution.
It was meant to last for 25 years to allow - in the words of the first prime minister - "the malays to catch up with the Chinese". It is now 49 years later.
In foreign countries such as Canada, it is the majority that has to take care of minority rights be it the gays, the natives, the women and whatever groups there are. We pay heavy taxes but these go for the low income and poor people irrespective of color, creed or race.
So malay, you may keep your rights and perpetuate them. Such things are archaic. Who loses in the end? Your country, which should have been a first world one by today.
Citizens of Malaysia, be you non-malays or malays, it is time to wake up, the earlier the better, and realize that the mother of all problems in Malaysia is not caused by ordinary citizens but by Umno, who have insatiable greed for power and money, and hence must divide this country by race, and rule.
It is their insatiable greed that is ruining Malaysia, including our universities and education system. The struggle in Malaysia is not between non-malays or malays, but between Umno-malays and the crony.
The current political environment does not properly and fairly engages opposition parties to debate issues of national interest.
In this age of Internet and information technology, it will be great mistake for any government not to change quickly and try to manipulate and control information to influence the people.
It is wise to empower the people with timely, meaningful, factual and accurate information so that they could use it in a globalised and competitive world.
Information has put power and influence in the ordinary people hands, and a successful country is very much depends on the distribution of timely and accurate information to its people - the western countries are good example.
Without the practise of free thinking, speech and action, we have a huge problem to overcome the shortcoming of our students and employees. Students and eventually employees that don't know how to work around different circumstances and goals will remain just clogs in an economic machinery controlled by someone else.
And of course the government goes on pretending like they don't exist, or they are cavemen from the jungle. So much for bumis policy.
The Internet is but a reflection of real life. Racists exist in Malaysian societal structure, therefore racists will exist in the Malaysian Internet realm as well.
Oddly although, as long as the government of the day practices institutionalised racism through preferential policies, this racism won't go away. The government can't see that, and therefore Malaysia deserves what it gets.
I am a Malaysian. And stop bad-mouthing Chinese, because part of me is Chinese. If malays end up being slaves, it is their own fault. Typical, stupid malays.
First thing to be blamed is the politic which spoilt them so much that they would never learn to stand on their own 2 feet. Politic is about uniting people in a country, not just a certain race and then be racist.

As for harmony, there was never real harmony in Malaysia. There was tolerance - thus faked harmony, but not true acceptance which bring about true harmony.

In previous BN government, there always had been widespread corruption and come election season, they will hand out sweeteners to the voters who will happily cross the box beside despite complaining about the government for the previous 5 years.
But I am under the impression that this is the first time these BN politicians (including their local councils) are showing the irony of spending lavishly and yet tell the people to buck up. Am I correct, everyone?
In Malaysia, the purchasing power of the whole country seems to be going into the drain together uniformly. From the economical meltdown until these days, have you seen any significant recovery yet?
My point of view is, I see the economy becoming even more stagnant and dying a slow death in Malaysia. Hence the sinking purchasing power all over the country. Coupled with competitive markets from neighbouring countries life sure is getting harder.
The government however played active ineffective roles to 'help' the situation. Everybody knows they are trying to divert the funds to save their arise in their so-called businesses when Soros began the assault.
This is where a lot of the tax money has gone to. But it didn't help because of corruptions and more money spent on useless mega projects - hence the wealth of the country is once again being abused time and again.
So with the raise of petrol cost, are they still expecting the people to just sit idly by and let them be trampled with? We are drilling petrol for goodness sake, and to have things so expensive flinging at us is just shit……….I don't know what to say.
Do you really think we are lucky? Yes, if you want to compare it to Africa. But look - our country actually have money. But where did they all go?
Alright so now is your chance to change, in the next election. Many people get carried away by the 'buying' over tactics used by BN. If the next election the BN (robbers) still win big, then the people do deserved to be punished.
The amount of taxpayers money they wasted on those mega projects are not even funny if you calculate it. The amount of money they spent for their lavish lifestyle is ridiculous.
It all boils down to the productivity, the real income per head. In Malaysia, one person works, and many parasites have to suck from him.
Now Pak Lah says with the 9th Malaysian Plan to be materialized, they need to increase the civil servants by a certain number. Come on, we have already had enough parasites and yet more has to be added on because of the problem of the unemployable graduates.
We have a king size cabinet and yet we have to increase the already oversized civil servants further. How not to get our purchasing power shrinking!
Who else you want to blame! After living on handouts for lots years or maybe after a couple of generations how to change.

Perhaps we should convey this to the people who are not reading this matter or have so little knowledge about what is really going on in our country.
Hopefully more people will be concerned and in time be active in politics. Who knows we may get another Lee Kuan Yew from among the young people. We may start to build Malaysia although it is already 50 years too late.
Malaysia is suddenly realizing that its competitiveness has slipped. This is the final expression of a failed education system. Unless steps are taken to broaden its access, improve the quality, increase its relevance, and reduce the inequities, Malaysia will remain poorly served.
Here is a paradoxical example I wish to share. In my years of higher education at a private college, I have always thought that we should do more than just what is presented on our plates. Unfortunately, the lecturers themselves are the ones that aren't inspiring us to think critically.
I had problems securing jobs with MNCs in Malaysia but got accepted to work for Singapore based-US banking firm after sitting for the IQ test. None of my ex-coursemates are jobless and a handful is working for MNCs in Singapore. Go figure.
Crony capitalism and nepotism also filtering down the Malaysia corporate culture. Senior managers have no pride in work. More interested in keeping position and power. To hell with initiative.
Senile Mahathir is still acting as if he is in control of Bolehland. Please, will someone tell him to shut up! The Malaysia media seem happy to humour a senile old man. He blames everybody. When he started off he appeared genuinely working for the country. Along the way he changed. That is the reason why the country is in such a mess.
